It's my birthday! πPlease celebrate by:
-eating something delicious and not feeling guilty about it.
-visiting/supporting your local library
-telling a creator how much you like their work
-reading this story about my hometown which means a lot to me: www.sundaymorningtransport.com/p/written-on...
If we're doing groceries and take-out discourse, here's my take:
Man-made famines are crimes against humanity.
If you can help the World Central Kitchen in Gaza, please do. Donate dollars. Call your reps. Share their story in your communities to invite help.
Thanks for the recommendation!

25.07.2025 20:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm listening to @aptshadow.bsky.social/Adrian Tchaikovsky'sService Model, read by the author, and having a very fun time of it. It's got many of my favorite things, done quite well, and Adrian's voices and narration are, of course, spot on.

If you expected Google's URL shortened to work forever, there's news for you. (I think I've used it ever, but hopefully had the good sense to observe what Google usually does with its tools, eventually)

In the foreground, a Kobo Libra Colour, showing the cover of John Scalzi's "Starter Villain", on a plastic white Adirondack chair. In the background, a dock, with another chair and a towel, and a small lake/ pond of water beyond that.
The sky is blue, and the lake. There are clouds, wispy. And green, in many kinds of trees, nearby, and on the far shore. Fishing line hangs from some of the nearest trees, though I don't know if it's visible in the picture. The leaves of the beech tree, top right, are succumbing to beech leaf disease.
A patterned towel on a dock on a pond. A plastic Adirondack chair holds a sunhat, tie-dyed cotton shoulder bag, a bottle of sunscreen, and an ebook reader in a light purple case.
Finally settling down to read a book (John Scalzi's "Starter Villain") by looking at it, because I don't need to be multi-tasking every moment. And because my libraries don't have the audiobook version, I suppose.

Spinny disc sprang a leak and had to be drained so it's less of an experience this weekend. Hopefully to be sorted for Firefly.

03.05.2025 15:07 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In Swiftkey at the end of a word, I can hit capitalize and instead it puts a space and predicts the next word. I keep writing "kiko" and it predicts the lowercase word, and I tap the up arrow that means Capitalize, and it adds a space, so I then have to press "backspace", "Capitalize".

Because you cannot actually see this trailer for the TV show based on @marthawells' MURDERBOT too many times, and I was at the vet with the cats when it dropped.
