Hear them talk, hear yourself answer, see them exhaust their gestural arsenal, respond in kind, watch their features shift, can't see your own expressions but you're sure you're doing something with your face. We're out there nudging the mechanism. We're in the backseat watching the puppet show.

A sketchbook is a kind of crime scene.

This reminds me of the fake Yu-Gi-Oh cards you could get on the flea market. The holographic effects were much more showy than on the official cards. It was just this piece of transparent foil that you could easily peel off the cardboard. A lot of them were badly translated. Wish I still had some.

Sometimes when you see good figuration you go: Woah! That's good figuration!

When someone does, you actually have to shut up though. Ironclad rule.

Evil autism trick: At the start of conversation and intermittently throughout, just tell the other person it's okay to tell you to shut up when it gets too annoying or convoluted or when they feel they can't get a word in. If they fail to do that because they don't want to be rude, it's on them.

I don't do things for reasons. I'm not a saint or anything. In fact, I'm wretched, like all of us. I'm self-obsessed, self-destructive, full of spite and conceit, addicted to various comforts and morbid fascinations. But one tries to be better.

There are people who get really mad when you don't see yourself as an enactor of a personal will. I just sort of drift through situations and try to treat people with a baseline compassion (as far as whatever I am is able to discern what that is), ease suffering when able etc..
