I’m horrified by Trump’s order to send 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. We’re only nine months into a four year term and already the president is trying to invade an American city. If you’re in the Guard, you can and should refuse these orders.

Six and half hours wasted. Six and a half hours when these Met police officers could have been engaged in their normal duties of harassing women and ethnic minorities.

There's no reason for Jewish communities to be fearful of pro-Palestinian protests. These are anti-Israeli government protests not antisemitic. That they perhaps do feel unsafe, is much more about alarmist rhetoric from the UK government and Israeli government propaganda.

Some times in America we have the exact right President in office to lead in crucial moments (i.e. Lincoln). But at other times we have the exact wrong President in office (i.e. Andrew Johnson). Today we have the worst President in our history in office at a most crucial moment.

Given that she seems less than competent, it's hard to see Shabana Mahmood's appointment as Home Secretary as anything more than a cynical ploy by Starmer to give a veneer of credibility to a clamp down on pro-Palestinian protest and the introduction of increasingly anti-immigrant legislation.

If we're going to police the streets of Britain according to people's level of fear, I suggest arresting ALL men so that women and girls no longer feel nervous about leaving their own homes.

This is a complete over-reaction to the Manchester attack and another step along the road to authoritarianism. These pro-Palestinian protestors are peaceful and present no threat to Jewish communities or individuals anywhere. Free speech is being stifled.
