EILEEN MYLES AN EXPLANATION I have this compulsion to live no matter what that's why I did what I just did yet everything in the universe seems sad eat a banana plastic jars of laxative my lap-top's gong it's good to be so clear for once I have no interest in the gaining media access panel. At exactly 2:30 it's where I'll precisely not be I imagine, I understand a world based on positive inactions a glossy don't a fervant won't if for a second I dread carrying the lug of my corporeality up the stairs, I think of sex or something like it not being dead and it's that as well as my books and socks and computer, battered knees and twisted ankles I swing over the shoulder of something strong up the 26 steps. So now, having arrived home, having traversed an ocean of stone, New York, to be in the home of a simple idiot. To make a cup of coffee, black and strong, to be here in the early November afternoon and the drapes of the individual leaves are charming, like earrings, are like torn gloves on my good old tree. I have nothing more to offer you but stripes of light.

ONLINE WORKSHOPS I FIONA BENSON OUT SPOKEN PRESS LET IT BE EXTRAVAGANT Join Fiona Benson for a playful session of festive writing focused on generating lots of first drafts to work on in the ongoing winter season. Seeking inspiration from poems of the winter city, favourite tinsel and tat, Christmas trees and mistletoe, we will explore some personal winter fables as well as hearing tales of folk noir Christmas creatures like the Krampus, the Yule Kat, and poor old wandering Babushka. We will spend the last part of our session crafting little Christmas poetry zines - lovely little keepsakes to hang on the tree or give to someone.
