This is definitely one of those games where the host sets up before the guests arrive and is provided with pizza as tribute.

Tbh, there’s a fantastic game under that O’toolean avalanche. The flow is fairly straightforward: play a “focus” card and pick two out of the three actions to resolve. You can typically program your entire card sequence if you’re not playing one of the more competitive scenarios.

War With A Mate

Y’all know about the “War with a Mate” podcast? It’s a couple of British dudes - who’ve only played Catan and D&D before - putting themselves through the entire Campaign for North of Africa (I think they’re about to finish the introductory scenario after about a year of playing) warwithamate.co.uk

@joedewhurst.bsky.social and I are play testing The Nights of King Ludd today. A manufacturer was assassinated, oaths were broken, signal rockets were fired ... but Fortune did not favor us this time. In the end, only one Mill was left smoldering, our compatriots banished to exile in Australia.
