Neighbourhood governance: a chance to break the all-pervasive culture of centralisation - We're Right Here Unlock Democracy's take on pervasive centralisation and what it would take for new neighbourhood governance arrangements to deliver real power to local people.

“It’s centralisation on steroids.”

@unlockdemocracy.bsky.social criticises the Government’s devolution plans for falling short – but sees potential in new neighbourhood governance arrangements, provided they reflect and serve truly local communities.

The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For ‘doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

Quote from Rich Bell, Director of We're Right Here: “Together, these changes will help some local people band together and improve their places. But to truly unlock the potential in our communities, the government must be bolder — strengthening community control over services and spending decisions."

It’s a big day for our campaign: the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill landed in Parliament a few hours ago. Here’s what it means for communities: 1/5 🧵 #CommunityPoweredPolitics

Hello! We are going to start offering prints of church drawings! Going to start with a few runs to see how it goes. Any thoughts on which churches you'd be interested in? It's hard to figure out which ones would be popular! Thank you 🤗
