Dug a surprising number of trenches in Northern Ireland. This was in South Armagh in 89 where we spent the longest time in trenches since the Korean war on Op TANTALUS the refurbishment of watchtowers. Trench was had overhead protection in 3 parts -fire trench, sleeping area and admin area.

The younger me beside the older me 36 years apart. A difficult tour during a difficult time. 2 KIA & ~6 badly wounded in our sub unit of about 100. First time back in Londonderry since then. Place is unrecognisable and thriving thankfully.

RAF officers on around £60,000 manning the gates at Cranwell due to guard shortage A source said commanders had ordered flight lieutenants to fill the gap at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire. This requires them to stand guard for up to 12 hours through the day or overnight.
