This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

02.03.2026 20:07 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anyway, I say this to say I've been thinking a lot lately about James Gunn's Superman, the latest reboot of the film franchise. I saw it when it released in theaters last year, and, predictably, by the end, I had shed more than a few years. I didn't understand why until this weekend, when I was having some Outdoor Beers[1] with a couple friends. The plot of the film is pretty simple: Superman saves some people who need saving, and eventually, emotionally, saves himself. (It really is worth watching.) But the reason I had such a strong reaction to this Superman, despite it being a lot like every other superhero film, was ultimately pretty simple: it felt radical to see a man with so much power could decide to use it for good. That someone β even a fictional someone β could believe that goodness was a thing worth sacrificing for, worth working to protect.
