Can’t be sure of anything but isn’t it worth a try? Perhaps at a lower league level first.

Prove if it’s effective and improves the quality of game management. There’s nothing to lose in trying it out.

I’d have a Referee Assistant, on the pitch but without a whistle, in communication with the Referee. Being used as an extra pair of eyes to pick up things the Ref misses. I’d also use retired players to fulfil the role. Ex Professionals who UNDERSTAND the game & can talk the players language.

Why would he share the technology with America?

Once Putin demands it, Trump would be give to Russia within a matter of weeks.

The most blatant need for extra officials are linesmen who have to stop at the halfway line & are the expected to flag for a thrown-in when the ball goes out of play upto 50 yards away. This results in the referee having to cover more of the pitch which then results in them being out of position.

Two Referees and four linesmen. I’ve been saying it for the past 20+ years. The game is 150 years old and has changed out of all recognition but we still have pretty much the same number of match officials 🤷‍♂️

That’s another argument for having an active Referee Assistant on the pitch to share the workload and improve game management. Perhaps if Referees didn’t have so much to do they might do a better job 😉

Time wasting is punished with a yellow-card anywhere else on the pitch. It’s the only logical solution.

Corners would be straight forward. As soon as the ball goes out of play. For free-kicks once the foul is awarded or, in the event of an injury & a player requiring treatment, as soon as the Referee decides the game can continue. They’d quickly refine the process once they’ve tried it for a while.

Or just impose limits on how long free kicks & corners can take and use yellow cards to manage it. They did it for goal keepers holding on to the ball so it’s not difficult. Use the 4th official or a dedicated timekeeper so the referee doesn’t have the added task of doing that aswell.

It should DEFINITELY be feet only. If I’m standing behind you in a queue waiting to get served and lean over your shoulder. I’m still behind you in the frickin queue!
