My little chicks are doing good!
There's something magical
about letting nature
do its thing
in a world where everything
is controlled.
No incubator.
No automatic feeders.
No cages.
Just a hen, eggs,
21 days of sitting,
and then life.
If only everything,
could be this simple,
again.

I'm on day 7 of needing to lose 40 pounds. It kind of wrote itself. 😅

If, I count calories
everyday, and if,
I watch, what I eat, and
take notes, and scream at myself
daily,

Then, I will lose weight.
Yes? I will be thin.
I will be healthy,
by counting calories,
and screaming
at myself.
Yes?

LOL. My fingers are usually much faster than my brain. Gets me in trouble a lot.

When I was a kid in the 80s, I wrote an essay for English class about the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. When the teacher told me they were shocked I knew about Samuel Coleridge, I said, "I don't know that that is. This is an Iron Maiden song."

Ever since I left Facebook in March, I have come to realize two things.

First, I miss my gardening groups where we shared pictures and gave each other advice.

Second, I don't miss the drama, the political arguments, cat photos and pictures of everyone's dinner.

Second outweighs the first.

I finished my first chapter 1 in 15 years yesterday. I've outlined several books and started many chapter 1's, but could never like them enough to keep them. Hopefully I'm moving away from just poems and short stories! (Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just want to write a novel!)

Living on a river seems pretty cool. What part of the country do you live in, if you don't mind me asking. I'd always dreamed of living a boat south of New Orleans. I thought that would be the coolest thing.

Here's something funny. I clicked on the trending button for NFL draft. The first 10 posts were about the Cardinals at the pope funeral and pictures of red birds. I guess BlueSky doesn't know the difference between them and the Arizona Cardinals.

I knew the stories
of her life

I love to write when it rains. It has been raining and thundering the past three mornings in a row for hours. Much joy this week.

It's raining. Again. We've received about 15" over the past week. (10" alone Sat. night). Even the lightest of rains now flow down the yard because there's no where for it to go. <sigh>

I've written 3 rain poems this week. I think I'm going straight into my crime novel today.
