A misty and frozen start to the day on our dog walk to Hayeswater flanked by the Knott and Grey Crag on either side. Blue sky and the remains of a wonderful mist and cloud inversion which sit on the tops of the mountains. Now this is a tarn and no longer a reservoir it's a great location for swimming in the warmer months to come.

Saturday wander and dog walk to Hayeswater(decommissioned as a reservoir in 2014) This is a mountain glacial tarn originally dammed in 1908 to supply drinking water to the Ullswater area in the #LakeDistrict. Cold frosty morning and some mist remains on the tops

Just been out for the last dog walk and saw these two rather fine-looking chaps (or chapesses?) on the path. Went back out with the camera, turned on the flash, pointed, and hoped for the best. Came out better than I expected!

I have stopped feeding birds at present but my neglected, once pristine, garden now feeds them with fruit, seeds and invertebrates and my dead hedge, trees, scrub etc provides nesting sites..

unsure of her fate.. she was sitting on eggs in a nest perched on an island in a large pond near a rural country lane, in full view and reach of humans and fox. A fox unlikely to attack a mature swan though.. very sad! The cob stayed though, continuing to 'defend' the territory around the nest..
