This Reith Lecture is really encouraging for those advocating for moral/ethical progress.
It covers lessons learned from abolitionists, suffragettes, etc;
the need for perseverance;
how just a few determined people do achieve positive change for societies. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Medieval women’s legacies live on in Britain’s towns and cities

Yes, the being ‘lovely’, ‘charming’, etc, towards women/female priests has been one of the tools which are used for keeping women down, & keeping people calm about it.
It’s one of the #MaleHeadship #Complementarian #Traditionalist cloaking mechanisms.
Enough.
Time to wake up to it.

2 And @churchofengland.org leaders haven’t even done the work that two Independent Reviewers recommended should be done (in 2017 & again in 2024), to consider the pastoral & theological challenges for female clergy when a diocesan bishop is appointed who doesn’t ‘fully recognise’ their ministry.
04.11.2025 11:09 — 👍 0 🔁 2 💬 0 📌 01 This article is unbalanced: it doesn’t acknowledge that @churchofengland.org clergy opposing equality for women in ministry have not followed the 2014 Declaration terms (e.g. parish consultations, reviews, vocation referrals), which were agreed in good faith.
So the agreement is already history.

We’ve been contacted by a number of people who say that our list, compiled from the male-only priesthood societies/bishops’ own lists needs corrections!

It’s interesting how inaccurate the lists we got from the societies & flying bishops have proved.
Don’t they have accurate lists of the resolution churches the say they’re overseeing?
And they’re asking for more resources…to be funded by the rest of us?
Really?
Thank you Brenda.
It’s revealing that it has taken a group of volunteer charity trustees to do this work for the Church, with almost no help either from diocesan teams or the central @churchofengland.org.
The @dioceseoflondon.bsky.social was helpful, but otherwise we’ve had to do this on our own.

Full of gratitude too for her, taking this on in the face of ongoing misogyny.
