Retired Helicopter Mech. WOD 1.0 > GWOT. Shameless Degenerate. Undisputed Gay Chicken Champion 1999-2012. Record holder for most unsuccessful Article 91s (203). If you can't DIY poorly, don't do it. All opinions are my own unless I steal them.
Only five days... and when I got back for the debrief, my response was this (with the country changed):
12.11.2025 05:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Anyhow, the very-drunk XO cheap-shotted me and gave me a black-eye a minute or so after this was taken, as I went to get another margarita for the pain of my lacerated-leg.
There goes the Article 80.
One of the female-Junior officers took me to bed and then had sex with one of the guys pictured.
Everyone from the boat came back and saw me sipping from a fishbowl margarita and flipped their absolute shit. The CO and XO threatened me with an Article 80 for attempted-murder. I might have brandished the broken-over-my-head beer bottle and threatened some people. Chalk it up to fog of war. ๐คท
12.11.2025 05:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The picture was taken back at the resort/hotel (The Hotel Sierra) we were all staying at about an hour later. I was laid out on lounge-chair, next to the pool with a head full of "pharmaceuticals" because the clinic wouldn't open until Monday. And I was flying out on Saturday afternoon.
12.11.2025 05:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The XO from the boat put me in a headlock; so I punched him in the jaw. I got manhandled out of the bar (The "American Bar" in Golfito, CR) and the Bosun threw me headfirst into a giant planter for a baby-palm tree. Which split wide open. I slipped on some vomit and lacerated my leg, really bad.
12.11.2025 05:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The day of the picture (Friday night), I had a beer-bottle cracked over my head because I punched an E-3 from the boat (who later showed up as my apprentice at the air station) in the mouth for sexually assaulting the female pilot on the deployment that I was not attached to, but there to support.
12.11.2025 05:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Anyhow, here's my Veterans Day picture. I was in Golfito, CR after smuggling military aircraft parts into the country in my personal luggage, two-days prior for a deployed aircrew.
I had stabbed a cabbie a day prior for trying to take some of us to a cartel brothel after hearing him say "raptar."
The whole album is great. The lyrics to that song, though... when you consider the (amazing) guitar as a response... My neighbor (PhD in Music Theory when I lived in Florida) pointed it out when I was grilling up wings for his 90 year old dad and my gf, in nothing but a thong and flip-flops.
12.11.2025 04:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's "open-knowledge" but unless people talk to reporters, it's not really "OPEN-knowledge."
It's "open-knowledge" that CO of CG AIRSTA Washington DC was forced to retire because he pissed off Kristi Noem on the first fam-flight. But does the public know that? ๐ค
I've been on Bluesky too long.
As mitigating circumstances in the court-of-public-opinion, other "serious" people took it as a real, serious thing; and I was more subskeeting them than critiquing your original post.
Tactics are not strategies. Parts of strategies are not (whole) strategies. You have to plan from the "Before," through the "Present," and then through the "After."
The vast majority of military officers don't do this.
You think ICE/CBP/BP is going to? No. No. Not at all.
I have sat in operational-planning meetings with these people (and a whole lot of senior joint-agency people) and been the well-below the next-lowest-ranked person in the room. And all it takes is that person to say, "OK, and what comes next?" to break the spell that they're in any way competent.
12.11.2025 04:26 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0These people have shown no capacity to play regular-chess; let alone "4D Chess." They have shown the capacity to stick the Bishops up their nose and make silly faces. Time and time and time again.
Don't fall into this trap. That's not how these policies come into being.
I have no doubt that some dipshit, one-and-doner, who got out and ascended the dook-tower ranks of these agencies cooked up a (coked-up) idea to do "seasonal occupation... but, you know, 'we'll right do it right, this time' " and then pitched it to the rest of those losers who applauded it.
12.11.2025 04:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0ICE, BP, CBP have no strategic-thinkers. No serious ones, at least. Going back to pre-DHS, it's "strategy-by-meme." In other words, they read whatever hot dogshit is making its rounds in the office echo-chamber, and just do that bit. They haven't shown a history of understanding broader contexts.
12.11.2025 04:16 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I respect Wes, but I'm going to disagree with a bit of nuance.
Implying some sense of stategic-intelligence to this decision is the same as buying into the idea that some dipshit, Russian-milblogger "knows stuff" because he's logged thousands of hours in HOI4.
And this is one of the best (extended versions) of it. Knopfler's guitar-work might as well be a different lead-singer, perhaps one "from the other side," singing a duet. Just absolutely haunting; but, it captures all of the feelings, at the same time.
12.11.2025 03:58 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1This will always be the greatest song to listen to on November 11th. Whether it's Veterans/Armistice/Commemoration Day.
The narrative of war is so often written by those who were affected by war (rightfully) or those who orchestrated the war (wrongly).
I like the narrative of this song....
The MASH Finale is MeTV and it's so, so good. One of those tv-episodes I could watch 1000 times and never get tired of.

Also, engaging with civilians demonstrating performative patriotism with made-up "regulations" such as, "You don't have to take your hat off or stand at "Attention" if you're under a roof" is fun and the cops can't even stop you.
Today is also the 5-year anniversary of that time I went to Lowe's and they played the national anthem, causing almost everyone to stop and stand still. Some unhinged asshole yelled at me for "not respecting the troops" because I kept loading salt onto my cart.
"The Troops? I AM the troops."
Good morning and Happy "Eat Shit Lee Greenwood" Day to those who celebrate.
