Speaking of warcraft 2. I've been thinking about resources in rts, and there is usually 1 like in Westwood rts, or two like in blizzard ones or 5+ in smth like AoE. And they got their role and all, shape their games, set standards, but what's the deal with warcarft 2's oil?) It's so weird)

So there are lot of islands on the UV and one pixel of padding. Is it the features of the pipeline? My guess, there are no mipmaps so the padding is not necessary, and you try to ensure that every island has absolute least amount of stretching so pixels look crisp, hence lots of UV islands?

Here's the original bot. It has power cell on the back. In hindsight I should've drawn him in album orientation and draw the crystals too. Probably I draw it later and photoshop it in.

Redrew a small robot from a Lego set "Space Construction Mech 60428"

I've rewatched Alien and Aliens recently and this lego set (the main mech, not this bot) caught my eye cause it most defiitely references the powerloader from Aliens and in turn the SCV from Starcraft.

Not worth doing that again.

Then I would regain energy in 1-3 months and can go on another manic period. Consistently, and everyday I can only do bare minimum of drawing. Setting a goal of drawing every day achieves a small halfhearted scribbles to cross a square and costs commitment and resources.

I would make grand plans and long projects, and depending on engagement the manic period can lengthen. In the end I fizzle out and depending on how much energy left - I can just become mellow to drawing, burnout or have a small breakdown. usually drawing stops being fun.

This year I drew everyday as a NY resolution. Learned couple of things about myself. It's like I have energy stat of my drive to draw. When it's high, I can enter a "manic" state, when drawing is fun, easy and rewarding. It can last 1-4 weeks, during which I lose energy

These pictures i drew are 6 years apart. Although there has been definite progress, I feel that progress could've been made in like 6 months.

Absolutely ginormous refboard

And I'm done with Inktober! It as fun but exhausting, again I've spent much more effort than I originally planned. I used reference and research extensively, the unified theme of dwarfs allowed me to collect a single refboard for the whole month, adding a bit to it each day.

Landmark - Inktober 2024, Day 31

The Hold underneath these hills is long gone, devastated in the years of war and ruin. But the halls of it are strong, waiting for dwarfs to return and clear out the rubble. Now, only the slanted statue stays as a solitary landmark of once big settlement.
