What game are you guys playing? I want to beat you both.

I have yet to hear someone say β€œlow key” (to mean β€œkinda”) where it sounded natural. Every time I hear it, even from someone the right age, it sounds like a person using slang they’re not actually comfortable with, like they wanted to say β€œkinda” but felt peer-pressured.

Winkler’s account does indicate that the presence or absence of ashtrays does not factor into her decision making.

I’ve realized I don’t remember how most movies end because movies end the same way: the protagonist gets what they want. The dark, sad, or ironic endings I remember.

Henry Winkler says in his book that Bette Davis β€” who he hung out with β€” didn’t use an ashtray and would just drop ashes wherever. I would love to believe this is true and am seeking corroboration.

This is so false and un-Christian that at first I assumed it was the Deseret News.

If you were OK with β€œSubstack, the Nazi Bar,” maybe β€œSubstack, a front for the gambling on life and death casino” might convince you.

Dolly Parton is what every billionaire should be: not a billionaire because she gives too much money away.

On that note, you should listen to Henry Winkler's memoir ("Being Henry") just to hear his impersonation of Paul McCartney.

I've been reading/listening to a lot of performer bios and memoirs lately, especially people related to comedy, and one theme that recurs in nearly all of them is the time when they met Paul McCartney. He's the Forrest Gump of entertainer bios, popping up everywhere for decades now.

It’s so funny when people who never watch SNL watch it because of the host and then think the host was special for being in every sketch, which has been the standard for roughly 30 years.

Uh no...we definitely realize it.

I think I thought SONG SUNG BLUE was going to be Hugh Jackman competing in a tournament of Neil Diamond impersonators or something. It's not that! He and Kate Hudson are both really good.

A copy of MAD #1 (Oct. 1952) in poor conditionΒ will set you back $900. www.mycomicshop.com/search?mingr...

I'm 37 issues away from having all 550 original MAD magazines (regular issues). Unfortunately, the 37 I still need are the priciest ones, so it might be another few decades before I finish. On the other hand, they'll only get pricier with time, so maybe I should cash in my 401(k) and buy them now.

My idiot moment during SNL is that I thought they were doing the ice-skating sketch live downstairs at the Rockefeller Center skating rink. I only realized they were in the studio when the camera pulled back at the end. 🀑

Tonight's movie with the 24-year-olds was one I hadn't seen either (a first for us): ORDINARY PEOPLE. We all liked it. It is very sad. It isn't "slow," but you notice how much faster paced movies are now compared to 1980. Everyone's so great in it.

Totally, but hard to see works too. I didn’t mean it as a correction, just a funny thing about language.

28.02.2026 05:36 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You might think "see" and "watch" are synonyms, but a movie that's hard to see is much different from one that's hard to watch.

For those who don't know, Max Landis is a rapist. His being a rapist got him "canceled" a few years ago, but being a rapist is now viewed as a positive quality, so here we are.
