I'm 37 issues away from having all 550 original MAD magazines (regular issues). Unfortunately, the 37 I still need are the priciest ones, so it might be another few decades before I finish. On the other hand, they'll only get pricier with time, so maybe I should cash in my 401(k) and buy them now.

My idiot moment during SNL is that I thought they were doing the ice-skating sketch live downstairs at the Rockefeller Center skating rink. I only realized they were in the studio when the camera pulled back at the end. 🤡

Personally, I was thinking how bombing a school makes it easy to stop supporting The Troops, which I was really only pretending to do anyway.

Tonight's movie with the 24-year-olds was one I hadn't seen either (a first for us): ORDINARY PEOPLE. We all liked it. It is very sad. It isn't "slow," but you notice how much faster paced movies are now compared to 1980. Everyone's so great in it.

You might think "see" and "watch" are synonyms, but a movie that's hard to see is much different from one that's hard to watch.

I was in L.A. in October and apparently got a parking ticket—"apparently" because it was not a literal ticket in the physical sense, but one they mail to you later. Except I never got the mail, either. What I got was a collection agency asking why I hadn't paid the ticket I hadn't gotten. Whee!

Question for NBC audio engineers: Will having a Heated Rivalry guy, Ryan Gosling, and Harry Styles host SNL three weeks in a row be too much high-pitched shrieking for the audience mics to handle? Shouldn't they throw a Paul Giamatti somewhere in there for balance?

How did Lorne decide which of the Heated Rivalry boys to have host SNL? Did he go with the one who is obviously more charming and interesting? Has the drawing of that distinction caused a rift between the two??

I'm disappointed that you apparently have to be told to watch SNL.

Think about the 7th entry in any horror franchise. Totally unwatchable, right? So if you were doing a meta-parody of horror franchises, you'd want your later entries to be just as bad. That's the genius of SCREAM.

I saw NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE knowing only that many reliable people had said it was funny, and they were right. Not laugh-a-minute, but audacious and surprising, with some great comedic situations. Very fun.

...and unfortunately, that director is buddies with the producer.
