My Gen Z friends who I've been watching movies with aren't really familiar with THE SIMPSONS. What episodes should I show to 24-year-old novices? Not necessarily the "best" ones, as I feel like those depend more on knowing the characters, but the most representative?

I thought for sure it was my year!

It occurs to me that with no modern Walter Cronkite, the host of JEOPARDY! is by default the most trusted man in America.

Thank you, that's very kind.

Saw COLD STORAGE last week. It's fun, breezy, maybe a little too jokey. Joe Keery is basically playing Jesse Pinkman. The film includes the line "Open your mouth, I want to throw up in it," which gets it an extra star in my book.

I was at 3-4 other screenings that turned out to be "historical" (in movie terms), but TIPTOES is the one I think about most often.

My most historical screening: 2004 Sundance premiere of TIPTOES, in which Gary Oldman plays a dwarf by shuffling around on his knees. The film is insane, the director disavowed it *at the premiere*, and in the Q&A a lady asked if the short actor Gary Oldman was related to the tall actor Gary Oldman.

I don't know if you've heard, but reporters are also capable of providing anonymity. In fact, news outlets are the main place one usually hears from "whistleblowers"! I can be sarcastic too! Your argument β€”Β basically, "trust me, bro" β€”Β is not persuasive and this is the end of our interaction.

You should take this up with the person who wrote the Substack, who outlines several reasons for skepticism. Everyone emailed this website? Nobody told, like, a journalist? A news outlet? No one gave the name of the person who supposedly made the comments? The complaints are written similarly? Etc.

I'd never heard him talk before! I think I'm straight now.

They're still just citing the one (1) source, MRFF. You're proving the Substack's point, which is that a lot of legit news outlets repeated the MRFF claims without corroboration.

Oh geez, my Gen Z friends sure did like FARGO. We might need to watch something really light next, though. I hadn't noticed before that Peter Stormare looks like a mutated Ryan Gosling.

Madam, it's crooked politicians who ain't news no more. Assassinations are still pretty popular.

Objectively, it's funny to put Charlie Kirk's picture on the Department of Education when his only connection to education is being murdered at a college.

I have yet to hear someone say β€œlow key” (to mean β€œkinda”) where it sounded natural. Every time I hear it, even from someone the right age, it sounds like a person using slang they’re not actually comfortable with, like they wanted to say β€œkinda” but felt peer-pressured.

Winkler’s account does indicate that the presence or absence of ashtrays does not factor into her decision making.

I’ve realized I don’t remember how most movies end because movies end the same way: the protagonist gets what they want. The dark, sad, or ironic endings I remember.

Henry Winkler says in his book that Bette Davis β€” who he hung out with β€” didn’t use an ashtray and would just drop ashes wherever. I would love to believe this is true and am seeking corroboration.

This is so false and un-Christian that at first I assumed it was the Deseret News.

If you were OK with β€œSubstack, the Nazi Bar,” maybe β€œSubstack, a front for the gambling on life and death casino” might convince you.

Dolly Parton is what every billionaire should be: not a billionaire because she gives too much money away.
