The response when progressive policies that help millions of people are proposed...
"How will you pay for it?"
The response when the richest 1% ask for tax cuts, or banks ask for bailouts, or defense contractors ask for more contracts...
"How much do you need?"
It doesn't have to be this way.

I should think they are. Theyβre a hard working family who would reasonably have expected that their bright, personable son would be well on his way to a good career and a life of self sufficiency. Instead of which heβs doingβ¦ whatever it is heβs doing.

Make no mistake: the AI boom, and data center construction it requires, is nothing more than a massive giveaway to Big Tech oligarchs at the expense of our environment and our statesβ public resources.
Our leaders should put communities before Big Tech's bottom lines.

Conversely my sister got her first dog (a cross breed) because her hubby was a way a lot. She and the dog were both on the same anxiety meds haha. Billie was an epic dog. Even my Mum adored her and she was terrified of dogs.

I have very acute hearing and suffer from anxiety and depression. Dachshunds are probably the least good dog for someone who canβt tolerate loud, sudden noises with a high pitch to them, and constant attention seeking. Every pot has a lid. I donβt gel with this breed but I can see how others can. π

Canada's Mark Carney and India PM Narendra Modi announce deals as they reset ties in Delhi
India and Canada aim to conclude a trade deal by the end of the year as their leaders reset strained relations in Delhi.
Fascinated at the disinterest of Australian media in the visit of Canada's PM Mark Carney - or indeed his schedule just before flying into Australia. After his "disruption" speech, calling for middle powers to take action... he's literally signing nations to a reset www.bbc.com/news/live/cw...

Pro-Chancellor
Council advises that Ms Alison Kitchen AM has stepped down from her role as Pro-Chancellor, effective 18 February 2026, due to increasing workload commitments.
Importantly, Alison remains a committed member of Council. She will continue as Chair of the University's Audit, Finance and Risk Committee and as a member of the Investment Committee.
We are grateful for her ongoing contribution in these critical governance roles.
Alison has made a significant contribution to the University in her role as Pro-Chancellor, providing thoughtful and considered leadership. Council thanks her for her service and continued commitment to the University.
Council is currently considering the process around the appointment of a new Pro-Chancellor.
ANU has confirmed pro-chancellor (2nd to the chancellor) has stepped down, nearly a fortnight after the fact. Rumours have been swirling since a uni website was quietly updated. It took Reddit for the uni to be more transparent, despite the council committing to do better. Uni governance is broken.
