What I've heard is that much of it is thrown away as it's surplus to requirements, but a tradition that started many years ago doesn't need to be slavishly followed by more enlightened people. Surely the Faroese are not so ill informed as to think it's ok.

Interesting,but I must say I find it incredible that intelligent people can't see the dreadful cruelty involved in herding terrified animals into a small space then basically stabbing them to death creating a literal blood bath.

We're more civilised here. I believe we've also banned snares.

It may have rained a bit but that will just have run off Arthur's Seat. It's been exceptionally dry this year & I'm not surprised the whins burnt as they'll be bone dry.

If you'd rather we banned supplying Israel with weapons instead of banning Palestine Action.

We used to have bull baiting &all sorts of animal cruelty as tradition.we ended fox hunting recently. Traditions that involve cruelty should die out as we become more civilised &aware.

The logical conclusion of unsustainable is what? Maybe euthanase "defective" babies. My daughter didn't show signs of disability till she was 2 and has given us so much happiness over the years, but she can't work so is therefore deemed useless according to the government rhetoric.

A pity the Faroese still take part in the annual mass slaughter of pilot whales though.....
