I understand there’s a ton of complexities. In addition to those, it amazes me how much NFL QBs can do when one of their options is “throw it 50+ yards over all 11 defenders.”

I 100% agree that is a penalty. I also think the rules are written poorly. Offenses shouldn't be rewarded for underthrowing balls and a receiver turning back and going toward the defender.
