The reports from the massive demonstration in Philadelphia are that 70 protesters were arrested for sitting down in an intersection. To my knowledge this was the first mass arrest of civil disobedience protesters resisting the trump administration.

I learned that some lawyers are calling May 1 "rule of law day" other years that would strike me as ironic, since May day became international workers day in memory of the Chicago Anarchist Martyrs. but this year, rule of law is opposed to tyranny, not anarchy.

And City hall was one of two in Ann Arbor, the other at Vets park. But the big thing to remember is that there were over a thousand demonstrations across the US on May 1st. The only estimate I could find for nation wide turnout said more than 250,000 people. Not bad for a Thursday.

But in clearly blue districts there is a need for debate and even primary contests. I support David Hogg's efforts to open the party to new leaders. I am not young (62), but it's clear to me that we needs more elected official of whatever age who are ready to fight hard for our democracy, and . . .

I just sent this note to the DNC: "A democratic Democratic Party has to have room for difference. We got in line behind Kamala Harris in 2024, and unity seemed to make sense at that time. I was not always happy with aspects of the campaign, but I donated regularly and I knocked on doors. But. . .

Arriving at Ann Arbor’s #TeslaTakedown

Last night I was proud to join with many from my county who turned out to speak up against the fascist actions of ICE, and show our support for Washtenaw county commissioners who are defending our community against the increasingly illegitimacy of the federal administrative branch.

So much for "The Leaders and the Best" uofm, EMU gets that title now.

Quite upset that James Roberts blocked the district court's order to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to the US after he was illegally deported to the Salvadorian mega prison in an "administrative error" I think this is how democracy dies.

I just came from Ann Arbor for Public Power, the organization working for the full municipalization of the City's electrical grid. Always nice to be with people doing big picture thinking!

So apparently the IRS has indicated that due to cuts in their staff the United States will loose $500 Billion in tax revenues, mostly taxes not paid by the super rich.
