I may be late for #showMeYourKnits lace but am slowly working on this shawl. I didn't think I'd be able to manage this thin yarn but am very happy to find I could! #crochet ๐Ÿงถ

Ha first time as an editor that I've encountered a non-breaking hyphen in the text. Impressed that the authors took the time to use it. #AmEditing #Edibuddies

Using Grammarly for the first time in forever ... WHAT?

As a non-native speaker writing primarily in English, I used to use it to check prepositions, point out too long/convoluted sentences etc.

It now offers to summon colleagues both living and dead to "expert review" the piece???

What?

- contextualized ("a contextualized overview")

I understand the intent behind the word, but I find it meaningless. Is it possible to create an overview (in this example) that does not consider context? #AmEditing #PlainLanguage

When writing alt text, ask yourself if you would picture an approximation of the image if it was described to you over the phone using the alt text you've written. Doing that exercise can be a good way to determine if you're on the right track.

Osiris on his throne in the Hall of Judgement. Detail, just a few cm tall, from the Book of the Dead. The papyrus is broken where it was rolled up, and the fragments had slipped inside the glass, so I realigned them in Photoshop

Please no comments on the vileness of genAI ๐Ÿ™ I understand the many reasons why *not* to use genAI. But I also feel that blanket condemnation of genAI use is a privilege of those of us who grew up with English. We are simply lucky that English is the de facto common language.
