It was an honour to deliver an invited talk at the historic Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre during the international meeting βThe Variable Sun: Past, Present and Future Perspectives.β
I presented our recent work from the Austrian Space Weather Office, on understanding errors in solar wind predictions.
The paper captures:
β
The status of Solar and Heliospheric Physics research in India and globally
β
A forward-looking vision to deepen our understanding of the Sun and its influence on space weather
β
The crucial role of Aditya-L1, Indiaβs first solar space probe, in addressing key open questions
I was honored to be invited to contribute to this historical paper [link attached].
This visionary document brings together inputs from more than 60 scientists working in India and abroad, spanning all career stages and representing over 3 dozen organizations.

There is a slow #solarstorm approaching the Earth, with models for the π arrival time ranging from early Sat Jul 26 to early Mon Jul 28 - a very wide range indeed! In SDO/SOHO images it is NOT the fast eruption to the right (look for a βοΈ there!), but a faint "halo" around the βοΈ on early July 23.
