We have identified the main #physical and #biological processes that influence #CO2 exchange between the #ocean and the atmosphere over a wide area of the #Southern Ocean! 🌊

Routine observations are not exciting. Yet, measurements of surface ocean partial pressure of CO₂ (pCO₂; think of this as concentration) are important for determining annual ocean CO₂ uptake. It's alarming that the number of observations has been decreasing. 🌊

A gentle reminder that if we miss the 1.5°C target (and we certainly will), the next target is 1.51°C and not 2°C. We need to keep fighting.

Every tonne of CO₂ emitted makes the job of future CO₂ removal harder, and every 0.01°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.

It seems like a horcrux of our planet’s ocean and climate knowledge… because it actually is! 😍
