We work in partnership with faith and spiritual communities and all Minnesotans to build transformative power and bring the lights of people’s unique gifts to addressing the climate crisis.

The Rally Against Hyper-Scale Data Centers today shows that people across the state have deep concerns about proposed massive data centers in our communities.
We need a two-year moratorium NOW to make sure that we have the right regulations in place to hold true to our clean energy commitments.
Thank you to everyone who came out today, and a reminder that we’ll be back in the Capitol tomorrow for Rise & Repair’s Rally Against Hyperscale Data Centers.

At the end, we sang with one voice in remembrance of all we lost this year, including Rep. Melissa Hortman, Renée Good, and Alex Pretti.

MNIPL’s Jim Bear Jacobs reminded us of how much we can learn from our relationships to the natural world, and Youth N’ Power’s Analyah Schlaeger dos Santos and Makayla Freeman led us in a call and response about letting go and releasing the ways of being that are causing us hurt and pain.

We’re so grateful for the elected officials who stopped by to speak, including Sen. Mary Kunesh, Sen. Jennifer McEwen, and Rep. Liish Kozlowski for their encouraging words at the start of this session.

Four people are pinning pieces of paper that look like stalks of wild rice and fish onto a large cloth painted to look like a waterfall in the Minnesota Capitol Rotunda.
Folks wrote out their ideas for healing on fish, water droplets, and stalks of manoomin or psíŋ (wild rice) and pinned them to this waterfall in a shared reflection on where we need to go next.

MNIPL joined with Rise & Repair on the first day of the legislative session to welcome our legislators back and ask the important question: how do we heal our relatives and Mother Earth?

Please join Rise & Repair for our Opening Day in a Good Way event! We'll welcome legislators into session as they honor Rep. Hortman and ask ourselves what it means to heal our hearts, and our relationships to each other, the water, and the land.

A close up of a ice-glazed branch of a tree back-lit by the sun is in the background. There is a box of text that says, "There was a time when this vision to end fossil fuel use felt aspirational. Something we needed, something to strive for, but something that seemed to many to be based on a future we couldn’t see. "Today, this vision isn’t aspirational. It is inevitable. "Even as we confront the phase out of fossil fuels, in the face of an industry that paralyzes certain players to make the change we need, the sun is shining. "For us all." An insert of a picture of a woman sits above another text box that says, "Sara Wolff, Strategic Policy Director"
