#40daysofgoodshit today is that i am taking a class on semi abstract art at the Curtis Center! The teacher is Christian Dore, whose work and energy I really like. Today we just did scribbly sketchy things but our homework is to draw something like his example bird here. Way outside my comfort zone 🤪

#40daysofgoodshit for today is this totally #abstract piece. I don't know what these are yet but I have a lot of fun making them and I'm gonna keep doing it. There's #watercolor (black and pink here) and then colored pencil layered over top in careful gradients to create more depth and interest.

My #40daysofgoodshit today (if we are counting Sundays within lent which I think is controversial...) is this awesome lemon curd and coconut cake my hubby and I made for our sister in law's 40th birthday party 😁 ...it was really good. Recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction!

For #40daysofgoodshit today we have a gleeful little gourd rendered in gouache and colored pencil. I started this wet in wet and did dryer gouache and then colored pencil to bring it into dimensionality. Pretty pleased as this is not how I normally work. A nice palette cleanser between bigger work.

My #40daysofgoodshit today is switching from a sea of gray knitting to the ribbing in minty green on my kid's requested (and color directed) sweatshirt. It's the Besties pattern by Tin Can Knits. Their app is 🤩

Let's learn some surprising things about hummingbird tongues.

First, as you can see, their tongues are forked & feathery, highly specialized for lapping up their liquid diet of nectar.

Went running, tripped on sidewalk, fred flintstone wheel legged forward into gazebo pole, smashed cheek and chin, then did the old wiley coyote slide down said pole to badly bruise both knees. They're still not right 😬

I think the point is, they didn't stop to ask, and Congress (in theory) would not have approved the declaration.

But did they save the dog??

We went to the nature and science museum today! 😁
