Today marks 8 years since the Grenfell Tower fire, when 72 people needlessly died because of corporate greed and deceit.

Every year, I am moved by the resolve, kindness and humanity of the community.

8 years on, we are still fighting for justice.

An illustration in the centre of 3 profiles. The person in the foreground wears a keffiyeh, and all three look defiantly towards liberation. The words read ‘from Palestine to Mexico, border walls have got to go!’ This artwork is Javie’s love letter to those resisting imperialism and fighting for better worlds

“When you grow up in the shadow of suicide, you understand just how fragile and important life is, and you understand even more the urgency of creating a more just world. Action becomes a necessity and not just a nice-to-have. But this shouldn’t mean that you aren’t held in a culture of care”

➡️ #Anduril's Maritime Sentry Towers (ASTs) include thermal and electro-optical imaging sensors, and radar designed to detect ‘small boats’ and other water-borne objects within a nine mile radius.

#OtD 22 Mar 1974 Scottish workers in the East Killbride Rolls Royce factory refused to work on plane parts from Pinochet's Chile. They kept the refusal up for 4 years, leaving the engines outside to rust, before they went missing one night stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/9...

This illustration is a snapshot of ‘La Nueva Canción’ explored in Larissa’s article, using bright colours from the Mapuche flag. The portraits feature the inspirational Mercedes Sosa, Violeta Parra and Victor Jara. Alongside a protestor performing ‘un violador en tu camino’ in the background to represent the legacies of resistance in Latin America to this very day. The fist is a drawing of the Quilapayún artwork for ‘El Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido’ and eyes from Violeta Parra’s beautiful textile artworks.

A new illustration close to my heart for Shado Magazine ✏️ on ‘How the Nueva Canción genre is influencing a new generation of artists taking up the mantle of protest music in Latin America’. This beautiful article written by Larissa Kennedy can be found here shado-mag.com/hear/the-new...

A photo of a page from Javie’s sketchbook. The drawing is of two floating faces squashed together and looking at each other. One face with roots on top, the other with houses on top. Roots are emerging from the bottom of the page. The sun is shining on the drawing.

a landlord opening the curtains of their home to a view of protestors outside the window. There protestors signs read: ‘power to tenants’, stop landlord greed!’, ‘power to renters’ and ‘housing is a human right’.

A page of Javie’s sketchbook. An image of two floating faces with leaves coming out of their mouths. There’s mountains with a sunrise creeping out behind. This was made using wax crayons and you can see a page ripped out of the sketchbook on the left of the drawing.
