I’m enjoying my use of Claude Code, with a new project. The way I’m working with it, feels like a tool to me.

The biggest upside has been it has steamed through a lot of boiler plate, and refactoring, in the prototype phase. There, it’s definitely saved me time!

Either way, I'm expecting this to take longer, and to teach me more about Android dev along the way.

I've this is ready forTestFlight I have a plan. I'd like to recreate the project in Android. Specifically to see how long it takes me to get to the same stage of beta on a platform I know a lot less about. Or if I get stuck and frustrated and throw the idea out as a time sink.

There's an iterative approach to this that I don't hate. Things start loose, and then tighten up.

I'm enjoying seeing the project come together though, and certainly the boiler plate/project setup/separation of concerns side of it has been sped up considerably with the tool

I have to think through changes, and offload repetitive rules into its ruleset.

You can't guide it well, if you don't also have an understanding of the dev process. It's no wonder there's horror stories of spaghetti codebases with AI dev tools.

I'm having fun though, in a way I haven't in a while with dev. The shift in mindset is similar (but not the same) as the shift between lead dev and manager/dev coach, which I've been through in my job.

Claude Code is great 🚀

Claude Code is frustrating... It's a "blind hammer" if you don't guide it well.

I’ve mixed feelings. On the one hand, yes, I know all the negatives with AI in general and the pitfalls. On the other, this has already helped me test something out relatively quickly.

It will be interesting to see how it holds up when I take the wheel from the prototype and start fleshing it out

I started a new iOS project with Claude Code on Sunday. A lot of setup of agents, rules, and scaffolding.

It’s since given me a reasonable prototype in a few hours, that would have taken me far longer to guide through otherwise.

I’m pleased, it’s a good place for me to start with a new idea
