After 50 years of a continuous run on television Super Sentai has ended (or, at least, entered a 10 year long hiatus)

The final episode of Number One Sentai Gozyuger was broadcast in Japan this morning.
After 2461 episodes (I think?) across 50 years, Super Sentai has gone off the air for the final time. ✌️😢

And like that. Gozyuger is over and after the Gozyuger vs Boonboomgers movie. The whole sentai franchise is done. The Reiwa era of Sentai was a fun watch and now I'm sad it's all over...

Well everyone, this is it, the end of an era, No.1 Sentai Gozyuger has just ended this week and Super Space Sherriff Gavan Infinity is starting next week. It's sad to see Super-Sentai ending as I've been watching it for years, but I'm also looking forward to see Project R.E.D.

Despite the controversies, I think Gozyuger was a good ending for sentai. I'll miss this franchise even if it might be a hiatus.

BTW, this is actually every sentai I ever watched so far.

Though it might not be the best Sentai, I still enjoyed my time with Gozyuger, despite the many bumps along the way. I hope some day I can see Super Sentai return. For now I can say that I was there at the end, as I carry the memories of it with me forward into the future. 😌

However, I'm inclined to regard it positively despite its many shortcomings and weak second half as it never lost its sense of rambunctious fun and spirited energy. Just about every episode has some enjoyable spectacle that in the moment makes it worthwhile and memorable.

That it serves as the final series as Super Sentai enters a period indefinite hiatus couldn't help leaving a poor mark and a high bar to clear in the eyes of fans that it doesn't quite clear. Rather its focus was on trying to conclude its own rushed finale amid re-shoots.

Gozyuger was quite a ride; started pretty strong on a fun battle royale premise with memorable characters and plenty of potential as it ran, but stumbled mid-way through due in no small part to some unfortunate controversies that soured my enthusiasm.
