It's been reported today that nearly half of those arrested in Northern Ireland last August during the racist violence, have previously been reported for domestic abuse.

Don't tell me the biggest threat to women and children comes from immigrants, it's mostly comes from local straight white men.

something else i noticed on the Nolan coverage of this:

reactionaries are weapon using the language of accessibility for queerphobic ends.

"libraries should be safe spaces!" ie. scrubbed of any deviance. "accessible to all" ie. coddling to homophobes.

Some parties want to turn children into political weapons. We believe they deserve love, respect, and space to be themselves.

Mocking trans kids isn’t common sense.
It’s cowardice dressed up as values.

A lot of the things non disabled people take for granted, were originally designed to include disabled people in society more.

Accessibility for disabled people benefits everyone else in society.

The Automatic Doors at the shops? First developed to make shops etc more accessible for disabled people; benefits everyone.

Electric Toothbrush? First developed for people who have trouble with motor skills.

Lastly, tell the trans men and trans masculine people in your life that you see them.

Offer space for them to voice these issues without the fear of being shut down or told they can't speak on an issue because they're 'privileged'.

We may pass, but we still struggle.

During Belfast Pride Week, make a point of researching trans masculine history and educating yourself on the struggles this part of the community deals with day to day.

Point out the erasure, and challenge it whenever you see it.

For example, there's a chance Hatshepsut may have been Trans Masculine or gender nonconforming, alongside countless others but we will never know due to biased historical accounts and erasure.

We have been misrepresented in history, medicine, research, policy and countless other areas.

Trans Men and Masculine people have been repeatedly erased from history and labeled as 'women who leaned more masculine' and we already know how white, christian cis man scholars treated the subject of queer and women's history.
