Like I could care less if some random stranger irl is rude and misgenders me, but when someone I’ve known for years slips up and does it it’s like, “Oh. Okay.”
Like it’s not the end of the world. It just stings a little.

Getting misgendered by friends, even when just an honest mistake, is really disheartening because it’s a reminder that gendering me correctly takes conscious effort on their part even if they’re trying to be respectful and supportive. I’m not just clearly a girl to them in their mind.
