Thinking again about how bade the art direction for Fire Emblem Engage was. Damn that game is fun to play but I get so mad about other things.

Okay so RetroAchievements:

Removed the Romhack
Removed the staff member pushing for it from Admin
Banned a bunch of the chuds trying to pile on
Removed some other stuff that shouldn't have been there
Reinstated and unblocked accounts that shouldn't have been

I think they're handling this right tbh

Saw the retro achievements thing happening and I cannot stress to everyone enough that having good moderators who remove people acting in bad faith is just a net gain for any community. There are so many subreddits I've followed over the years with no moderation presence and it always makes it worse

One can easily surmise that between Marianne's encouragement and Ignatz's efforts, he would be able to ride a pegasus knight. Like a girl does.

(tweet 1) The actual text - Ignatz speaking so passionately about it, even over painting, which is what most of his other supports are about, and emphasizing how it stirred something in his heart and being afraid of Marianne seeing to his true feelings - feels extremely Trans Of Gender. (tweet 2) Intsys doesn't really *go* there so I doubt it was intended, but they sure accidentally created an extremely plausible trans woman reading, lol. It's pretty great, to be honest. I like Ignatz more now. (tweet 3) It fits in really well with the rest of his narrative, too - the second son, expected to become a traditionally masculine role that he clearly has no interest in yet feels obligated towards, who longs for a kinder life where he can pursue his dreams. (tweet 4) He's also fixated on the goddess, who is this sort of ideal of femininity and grace that he's grown up with. Weird, I wonder why that would have personal significance to him.

Its a whole thing, the long and short, turns out that RA has a really bad Racist/Nazi problem that was brought to light by, of all things, a Racist Pokemon hack. The site is whole not setup to deal with this level of shit so we're all waiting to see what happens after the dust settles.

Late response but thank you for this, they needed to get some backlash for this. Thankfully it seems they're moving in a better direction. Hopefully they will improve and curate the site and have stricter everything.

Yeah it was more for the incentive to play games I had never heard of less to get things off a shelf and the challenges associated and also you know, *Cheevo Pop SFX* "Yay!"

as a trans person who's friends with ra devs and has done work for ra stuff e. g. writing a guide that was once featured on the front page and assisting with badges, I'm really not comfortable with this dogwhistle bullshit or the response. it makes me really hesitant to contribute in the future.

While I appreciate the suggestion its not really the same in the long run, the fun of RA was the challenge associated with unlocking achievements not just the check marks for doing such. Also you know the number go up whenever said thing occurs.
