The amount of people I know who have been laid off from games industry jobs and are deciding to leave games entirely as a result is not only extremely saddening (of course), but also genuinely scary. We have lost legitimately thousands of years of knowledge and experience in the last four years.

I don't know which of my kouhais need to hear this, but because I'm seeing this in a ton of commercial J>E game locs: you really shouldn't retain quotation marks in the same places as the Japanese source text 9 times of 10, especially outside dialogue. Punctuation parity in general is often sloppy.

I appreciated this, "You need to do something with your homage beyond just putting it together for people to point at and recognize." Not to pick on this game, which I haven't played, but IMO SO many games homaging other media miss that point and treat references and surface aesthetics as enough.

I'd love to talk about it sometime! I think it's a game that doesn't have universal appeal (or whatever that means) and they made design decisions some people wouldn't gel with. It really, really worked for me, but I've had friends with a lot of varied reactions to it, which I appreciate a lot.

I get why you'd feel that way. For me, I liked that they challenged how I feel, but they're definitely polarizing. I do feel like it was an intentional choice on their part to make them like that, at the very least.

This is the kinda thing I like discussing about it! And not...everything else haha.
