It's funny in a depressing sort of way that the folks who seem the most sold on the hyper-individualism of US culture also seem the most rigidly opposed to ideas that would meet more people's needs with less labor hours, and thus allow more time for individual expression and pursuits.

I already knew that eugenicist ideas were alive and well on the right, but it still shocks me that a prominent commentator can say things like that on national television without any pushback. These are the people blaming the left for violent rhetoric. The level of hypocrisy is absurd.

Nobody is more entitled to life and the necessities of survival than anyone else. We should never elevate one group at the cost of demonizing another.

The problems aren't new. People have been trying to warn us for decades. We've all been complicit in the harms Israel has been enacting from its very start.

When I was a kid, it was pretty obvious to me that X-Men stories were a metaphor for racism.

However, it took me until age 41 to realize that Magneto is a pretty obvious representation of the problems with zionism.

If other autistic folks have seen this show, I'd love to know your opinions about the representation.

I just finished watching the CW show, Good Cop Bad Cop. Copaganda aside, I thought it was a pretty fun watch. The character, Henry, is clearly coded as autistic in a Sheldon sort of way (they describe him as "having no social skills"). I'm a little torn in my opinion about him.

I'm in a relationship that doesn't allow me full control over my money, so I can't help directly, but I'll do what I can to boost your post in hopes that you get the help you need.

Meanwhile, we have conservatives panicking about laws that make priests mandatory reporters for child abuse.

We also need to ban insider trading, super-PACs, and make them all immediately replaceable if their constituents don't like the job they're doing.

I strongly feel that no one in the US should have lower pay, less paid time off, or poorer health coverage than our members of Congress.

How are they supposed to represent the people if they have a much higher standard of living than most of their constituents?

Thanks. The tears have been flowing easily whenever I have a memory or a realization of something in my routine that will be different now, like the way we would share space on the couch.

I lost my sweet 15 year-old boy, Prints, last night. He was my first pet, and my life won't be the same without him. He charmed his way into the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was such a big personality packed into a fluffy little body.

The party of "fiscal responsibility" and "small government" wants to increase administrative costs to avoid providing care to people they consider undeserving.

The cheapest, most equitable, and most humane thing would be to abolish health insurance and simply give care to everyone.

If the concern were ever actually about waste, fraud, and abuse, they would have taken a fine-toothed comb to the Pentagon before anything else. Then, they would have put maximum funding into the IRS so that they could enforce tax collection on the wealthy.

But we all knew it was never about that.

It also really doesn't help that the reward for working faster is just getting assigned more work. I'm already not being compensated very well for the strain on my body, so why should I push myself harder when it doesn't help me earn anything more?

They tell me to produce a quality product, and my autistic brain latches onto that part of the instructions, and I have a very difficult time knowing where to draw the line of "good enough" and get through the work faster.

I was listening to the most recent @coolzonemedia.bsky.social Book Club podcast, and it occurred to me that a lot of the reason I always have trouble meeting speed expectations at work (aside from chronic pain) is that I can rarely get myself out of an artisan worker mindset and into a factory one.

How much more aggression from Israel do people need to see before we get a broad demand for an arms embargo?

Genesis 6:6 (NIV) says, "The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain." --It seems to me that if he knew everything when he set things in motion, he might have planned things better to avoid this grief.

Genesis 3:9 (NIV) says, "But the Lord God called to the man, 'Where are you?'" --Seems like a silly question for an omniscient being to ask. So does any question, for that matter, since he should already have all the answers.

It's funny how Bible literalists (my younger self included) can hold onto the belief that their deity is all-knowing, even though this concept is contradicted multiple times in the first few chapters of Genesis.
