A female Greenfinch is perched on a branch looking unwell. Her feathers are fluffed up, which can be a sign of trichomonosis.

Still from the 1941 film "Love on the Dole", with the unfortunate subtitle "She's a strange lassie's arsehole".
Catastrophic subtitling on the 1941 movie "Love on the Dole".
(It should read "She's a strange lass, is our Sal"...)

When helicopters poisoned a tiny island in the GalΓ‘pagos, a 'once-extinct' animal appeared | Discover Wildlife
Thought to be extinct on RΓ‘bida Island, the leaf-toed gecko has reappeared after conservationists worked to rid the island of invasive, non-native rats.
The Leaf-toed gecko has reappeared on RΓ‘bida Island (GalΓ‘pagos Islands).
Previously, it had only been known on the island from 5,000-year old fossils.
βThe return of this gecko highlights natureβs incredible power to heal itself when given the chanceβ

ON a mossy stone in the middle of a stream, several legs and a claw of a crustacean. They are blue-white coloured.
I am holding one of the crustacean claws in my hand. It is about three-fingers width long, dark blue and has a rough surface.

The next bridge along has been closed for several years because of a similar structural issue.
Almost like the Council deciding to outsource the parks to a charity, and then that failing and bringing them back in house hasn't really worked in either case.

This is a nice bit of public art, but I think it underlines the Mayor's view of cycling, that it's a leisure activity that's associated with tourism, and not a sustainable Active Travel alternative.
Like much of the cycling infrastructure in the North East, it's form over function.

A birdβs-eye view of the gannet colony at St Kilda
The first drone census at St Kilda has revealed the islands are now home to the worldβs largest gannet colony.
Results from the 2023 #StKilda Gannet census are to be published in the December issue of #ScottishBirds, revealing relative stability in what is once again the world's largest colony, despite fears that #HPAI may have had a greater impact on the population
