A screen shot from the Sussex Wildlife Trust's financial report, showing that its upper management reveive salaries of Β£80k - Β£90k and receive roughly Β£400 000 of employee benefits. Two members of management had their salaries raised to that range in 2025. The reader is invited to compare these figures to the Β£24k that the posted job offers.

Staggeringly low pay for a role with such high requirements.

If I had to work with the kind of millenials that the young people are describing in their complaints then I, too, would hate millenials.

gradient.horse Draw a horse, watch it run!

This is fun. You should go draw horsies instead of whatever it is you're meant to be getting on with*.

*That's a lie. If you have important things to do don't listen to me. But this is cute.

Looking at that scheme in Ireland for paying creatives and we definitely need it here. They get €1300 a month (about Β£1130 / $1556) to live on so they can create work without worrying about bill payment and that's honestly a great idea.

The many heads of precious cattle on the tumultuous moon of Io. The beef industry simply can't withstand a disaster like this, what with all that has happened recently.

Reminder that there exists an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet filmed with untrained stray cats in Rome, dubbed over by British Shakespearean actors.

It's called 'Romeo.Juliet' and has never been given a VHS/ DVD or Bluray release. BUT THERE IS A COPY ON THE INTERNET ARCHIVE.

Over a pint in Oxford, we may have stumbled upon the holy grail of agriculture | George Monbiot I knew that a revolution in our understanding of soil could change the world. Then came a eureka moment – and the birth of the Earth Rover Program, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧡 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

My photo shows a three quarter profile of an ancient Egyptian figurine of a leaping dog facing left. Carved from ivory, now a warm caramel brown colour with glossy surface. The dogs eyes are outlined in black, the ears are floppy, the mouth is slightly ajar (the inside of the mouth is painted red - not sen in my photo). The front and back legs are outstretched as if running at full speed. A lever under the dog’s chest opens and closes the mouth so that the dog looks as if it’s barking. Dimensions: L 18.2 cm Γ— H 6.1 cm Γ— W 3.6 cm. Dated to Late Dynasty I8, I400-I350 BC, reign of Amenhotep III who was Tutankhamun’s grandfather.

The dog is mounted on a thin metal rod in a display case. In the background in the same display case is a β€˜galloping’ brown horse, which is the handle of an ancient Egyptian fly whisk or light whip.

I've just written to my MP, Peter Kyle, about this horrible attack on human rights that @teamlabouruk.bsky.social announced so proudly today. What they do to asylum seekers, they can do to anyone.

Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...

A rare interview with the creators of the always-funny, always-brilliant, and *usually*-sexyβ€”or occasionally anti-sexyβ€”OGLAF!

Cooper has kept a low profile over the years, but is legitimately one of the very best artists in comics today. Read OGLAF if you're old enough to drive!

A photograph of a television screen showing this evening's edition of Channel 4 News. The lead newscaster, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, is sat at a desk in a relaxed, candid posture, looking at his phone, as if he is on a break. The camera filming him was apparently not supposed to be broadcasting.
