To get your attention. Weirder commercials are so much better than your standard rip and read, plus they're usually memorable. I still think about some ads from the 90s and 2000s that were just off the rails! I actually wish more commercials were as insane as some of the ones I remember.

"you know, this is the perfect place for me to stop and totally not be an inconvenience to anyone else" is what I imagine people who stop at the end of an escalator say to themselves to justify their reason for stopping directly at the end of the escalator.

How I try to set the mood...

Read the manual / map as the game / software installs. It was a great way to learn and pass the time over a cup of coffee. Then be able to jump right into the game without needing to search for anything on another screen, it was already right in front of you.
