I arrvd in 88 from NYC, really excited by the squat *scene*. Its wild to think how easy it was to take over empty buildings in London. That squat on Barrington was there for 5-6 years. Went to a few rave ups at this place. It was abandoned for yrs before it was recycled. Great bldg. RIP Cool Tan

Word? I lived in a squat on Barrington Rd, right by the arches. House shook when the trains went by.

There's thousands of buy to let and most are unaffordable or squalid or both. There's a joke in the brilliant Stath Lets Flats where one of the estate agents leasing shite flats in North London has to live in Birmingham. It's funny cos it's believable.

One of the squats I lived in is now worth millions and sits empty. Thatcher's Right to Buy wrought this.

My mom's partner was an old friend of La Stritch's. As a kid, I didn't really comprehend the weight of her history, but I was enthralled with her tales of show biz. She was the real deal. I am blessed to have those memories, including watching her inject insulin. "See how easy it is, kid?"

I was speaking to "Dre",who took it upon themselves to explain why you posted. I have no issue with you, except that I find the Hillsborough photo extremely upsetting. Those people in the photo are being crushed,some to death, while this photo is being taken.

The first photo is photojournalism. It isn't meant to "conjure" anything. It's documenting a horrific event as it happened. Context matters. Applying some sort of psychobabble artistic meaning is exploitative bullshit.

The first photo is of the Hillsborough disaster. Liverpool fans were corralled into a section of Hillsborough stadium. 97 were crushed to death. 766 injuries.There was a decades long attempt to cover up the mistakes made by police. It was horrific. This photo is horrific.
