Given that Mark Carney just stood up & gave a world-famous speech lamenting how 🇺🇸 is destroying the liberal international order, it is actually incredibly shocking that he doesn't even mention the UN Charter, 🇮🇷's territorial sovereignty, the JCPOA, the UNSC, or any other aspects of that order.

Just in the last year... Trump attacked Iran, Venezuela, Nigeria, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq. And then murdered people in the Caribbean and the Pacific in boat strikes.

Add on top of that, destroying USAID, pulling out of WHO, etc... and this administration has/is killing millions of people.

The idea of bombing children as a form of “self-defense” is nonsensical and grotesque, but nonetheless it’s the argument the U.S. and Israel have been relying on for years and years. It shouldn’t be hard to take a stance against slaughtering children

Nevertheless, the warmongers have found a fan in Prime Minister Mark Carney. Saturday morning, Carney released a statement announcing that he “supports the United States” in its strikes on Iran. It is a feckless, bewildering, totally unnecessary position. It should call into question the prime minister’s supposed belief in the “prohibition of the use of force, except when consistent with the UN Charter,” as he told the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year. Carney’s statement does not even make a boilerplate call for de-escalation. Instead, it cheerleads America “acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.” That is a painfully naive and obsequious statement which blindly accepts an entirely unconvincing casus belli. The United Kingdom, France, and Germany all managed to comment on the situation without endorsing this war. In a terse statement, they stressed that they had no hand in the U.S. strikes — though the U.K. was helping to intercept Iranian attacks — and condemned Iran’s weapons program. But they refrained from praising Trump’s dangerous escalation.
