Ever since I learned about this study enrolling I have been eagerly awaiting the results. Researchers in Uganda took a centuries-old cultural practice mothers carrying babies on their backs in cloth wraps and turned it into a public health tool. You got to love it!

Dynamics of endemic virus re-emergence in children in the USA following the COVID-19 pandemic (2022β23): a prospective, multicentre, longitudinal, immunoepidemiological surveillance study
In this study, we captured immunological evidence of endemic virus re-emergence in
children following lifting of pandemic NPIs, which revealed high rates of exposure
to endemic respiratory pathogens in a large group of seronegative, predominantly younger,
children. This study demonstrates the feasibility and utility of immunoepidemiological
surveillance to enable more precise and accurate modelling of pathogen circulation
dynamics to predict and prepare for future waves of disease.

The authors showed how a relatively small serosurveillance scheme could complement traditional surveillance, enhancing epidemic understanding and forecast modeling.
