It really annoys me to see the press use the idea that there's a 'debate' about something where clearly there isn't. There is no 'debate' about play in the #EarlyYears. It's absolutely central to development, part of the statutory framework and a basic right for all children in the phase. 😊

The questions to ask are where does the profit come from and how can it ever be ok for public money to enrich private enterprise?

When there is no profit, all the funding goes to helping the children, via paying staff well, recruiting and retaining high quality staff, training them to a high standard and accessing specialist support from appropriate professionals like educational psychologists.

Private firms ran almost all care homes forced to shut for breaches in England Study finds more than 90% of facilities for children and 98% of those for adults that were closed down were run for profit

In my experience, local authority maintained children's homes have consistently been far superior to privately run ones.
