lol "the historic neighborhood of Kitsilano"
They should plan 28 more towers in the neighborhood specifically in response to this article and the people quoted.
It's just first reading, for which the majority often waves through bills that they intend to ultimately oppose so that there can nevertheless be debate. Which is laudable. But they don't and shouldn't do that with proposed laws, like this, which are unacceptable and beyond any reasonable debate.

This type of cross count propensity reasoning is incredibly not allowed in Canada, and I infer in the United States as well.
Say what you like about the legal systems of both countries (and thank u I will) but articulated constitutional rights seem like nice things to have.
Sorry to hear that. We have a pretty conservative provincial government on a spending cut kick, and so we're constantly expecting that they'll stop providing them too. But as of right now there's still a little display at most pharmacy tills and you can just take a box or two. It's a real blessing.

04.03.2026 22:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Idk about the states but we still have free antigen tests in BC and it's great, it's become a norm at least in my circles that everyone tests before a group gathering. Just a small but meaningful layer of protection, especially for our more medically vulnerable friends.

04.03.2026 00:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's an accessibility issue and can be so easy to implement. Assistance settings and customizable difficulty are great and I love that we're seeing more of that, but also every game should have a "skip this gameplay sequence" option. Let everyone see to the end of your game who wants to.

Sorry the Eleventh Voyage, not the Eighth.
A story that I thought about a lot as I read Service Model. (So I assume you're well familiar)
Sounds like something Lem would write though nothing I can think of is quite a match. Elements of the latter half of the Futurological Congress or the Eighth Voyage in the Star Diaries. Or conceivably a story in the Cyberiad or Fables for Robots but it's been a while; those tend not to have humans.

The story is, she joked that she was looking for Kris Kristofferson, and so he said he was Kris Kristofferson, and she "generously" accepted this.
My favourite thing about this song is that it's a lie, or at least an evolution, from the much rawer and more vulnerable original.

Three panel comic in red on white clipart of men talking to each other on telephones Panel 1: "Oh my God, this War on Terrorism is gonna rule! I can't wait until the war is over and there's no more terrorism!" Panel #2: "I know! Remember when the US had a drug problem and then we declared a War on Drugs, and now you can't buy drugs anymore? It'll be just like that!" Panel #3: "Right! God, if only that War on Drugs hadn't been so effective! I could really use some fucking marijuana right now!"
Some day I hope this won't be relevant. (From like September 15th or so, 2001)

"We are wrong because we started the war" should be the anchor point for all coverage of what's happening and it's remarkable how quickly that tends to get obscured.

I wouldn't be competent to evaluate the results. I haven't been at all impressed with the AI tools in my own area; hopefully I'm wrong about yours and it helps someone, but I'm very skeptical. And I stand by my comments about the intrinsic evils of modern LLM AI, even if capable of usefulness.
27.02.2026 23:29 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When I'm doing legal research I don't tend to want to start with a random collection of phrases and citations that may or may not be actively deceptive. There are a ton of powerful tools available that don't need me to sift out the lies? (and that don't fuel the objectively evil llm/AI grift)

Alexi lived on the street for five years and she's barely interested in going outside now. She'll spend a bit of time on our balcony and that's plenty for her; no interest in going on walks with a leash or otherwise getting outdoors. She's done her time.
