I'm a weird person. Took this guy out for a walk in the pitch black dark, pouring rain, and fog, about 45F outside, in shorts. And honestly, this is what I live for.

Got back and made a decaf coffee too.

(not my dog to be clear, just a buddy I'm watching)

Security Community Slams MIT-linked Report Claiming AI Power... Experts push back on new claims about AI-driven ransomware, warning that hype and sponsored research are distorting how the threat is understood.

Some guy got in an argument with me about the impact of AI malware. He cited a MIT paper claiming "80% of ransomware attacks are AI powered". I glanced over it and burst out laughing, but couldn't be bothered to debunk it. My friend on the other hand, could. He roasted it so hard that MIT deleted it

#Unifi firewalls not having a cert management system is one major downside to me.

Obviously there are other ways to manage certs, but managing it with #pfsense has been so much easier than spinning up some other system for it.

I genuinely think using extremely light mice has drastically improved the issues with my hands from using a mouse and keyboard as much as I do.

The lower weight really makes a huge difference to how sore I feel.

Is it just a meme to post about Baseball on here now?

Cuz I don't follow any sports adjacent stuff on here, and yet.

Seems the Elgato Key Light may not work between VLANs, which is lame. I think I can trick it with ProxyARP, but still not 100% sure what's going on with it.

The #subliminal demo was amazing on Steam, go give it a shot now, absolutely phenomenal.

That's really nice. I always try to check publishers, so few do DRM free now though, which is a huge disappointment.

This is a good recommendation though thank you.

Too bad scanning books in bulk isn't really that easy, unless someone has a better idea? I know book scanners exist to digitize a collection, just never really deep dived on how hard it is.

Media servers like @jellyfin.bsky.social help with this stuff a lot.

But books, books are hard to come by.

Which is sad, but at this point I think I'll just have to get DRM copies from Kobo (fuck Amazon) and if I REALLY like them, get a physical.

The convenience of digital goods is super important to me, I don't personally like paper, like at all. So physical books are a no go. Plus I like to bring them all with me when I'm gone.

You can get around most of this with movies/shows, and especially Music via Bandcamp

As I continue down the ownership kick I've been on, I've come to one major disappointment.

Owning books without DRM is nearly impossible, and that's awful.

Now before you go say "just buy physical media", just a friendly reminder, you CAN own stuff that is digital.

All networks shows there are 4 reservations, but they don't show up and even "offline devices" lists nothing.

LOL you can't delete networks in #Unifi if they have a DHCP reservation in place, even if that reservation is invisible and doesn't show up in the DHCP manager or client list.

Sorry but who at @ubiquiti.bsky.social thought it was a good idea to move Objects into the Network Lists area of Overview instead of having the Objects in the Objects section of the Object Oriented Networking?

So goofy.

If you are going to use email as 2FA (talking to developers here) you better be using an email service that doesn't take 5 minutes to send the code, it's incredibly annoying.

Leaker reveals which Pixels are vulnerable to Cellebrite phone hacking Cellebrite can apparently extract data from most Pixel phones, unless they’re running GrapheneOS.

"We’ve reached out to Google to inquire about why a custom ROM created by volunteers [@grapheneos.org] is more resistant to industrial phone hacking than the official Pixel OS. We’ll update this article if Google has anything to say." arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...

Institutional knowledge is a real thing and companies should recognize that. Good documentation is still not enough.
