If you add a couple extra rows of 3-4 for the tentacles you could get the same elongated shape

You can do it! It's a simple shape, there are plenty of nice YouTube videos to show you the basics of crochet! And you only need to learn Single crochet in the round for this.

In fact one of the first things I made when I learned was a jellyfish, this is a good beginner project!
