A Facebook memory for 5 years ago today: Just had a random flashback to the most furious on-set argument I ever witnessed, a DP screaming at the production designer: "I wanted a black cow with white spots! You brought me a white cow with black spots!" and this is so emblematic of my entire experience in Hollywood that I think it should be taught at film school.

Before #Romancelandia, I worked in the entertainment industry (and grew up inside it too). Thought I'd share this FB memory that popped up for me today.

Buttondown is now very loudly advertising on their landing page that they will do the newsletter migration for you if you want off the Nazi site.

They did mine, and it was painless. The only pain point I've had is how Substack handled paid subscriptions–Buttondown fixed their mess.

Indie author tip of the day: reach out to editors earlier than you think you'll need to. Many (most?) reputable editors get booked up many months in advance.

My next opening is in late Oct, and that's only by chance; usually I'm booking farther out.
