Initially, there were ink flow issues, which after inspection were due to the slit touching the tines.

Using the feeler gauge picking technique that doodlebud demonstrated in one of his videos, I was able to make the writing smoother.

The Varsity/V-Pen is a good pen. The only minor problem is that only available with medium nib. The V-Pen, for me at least, the black ink when dries it tends to be like a negative. I don't know if it is the ink or the paper (leuchtturm 1917)

On the left, it's a Delta Dune Black & Rodium with a thin steel tip, and on the right it's a 1960 Montblanc 22 Dark-Green with a fine 14k tip. The Delta Dune have an orange ink window and the Montblanc 22 has a blue ink window. Both are piston fillers.
