With STAR Voting, candidates would be motivated to campaign on shared values rather than highlighting divisive issues. This is because they would want to receive as high a score as possible from as many voters as possible. 🧵 ⬇️

With a better voting method like STAR Voting, voters could show how much and how little they like all of the candidates.

This prevents lesser-evil voting and allows consensus candidates to win. 🧵 ⬇️

In turn, candidates are incentivized to campaign on divisive issues in order to get their base motivated. It also helps them gain attention in the media to be perceived as a "viable" candidate that can defeat the other side. 🧵 ⬇️

With Choose One Only voting, voters are incentivized to support the frontrunner on their side in order to prevent the spoiler effect. This causes support for consensus candidates to be largely unseen and uncounted. 🧵 ⬇️
