I will write more about him in the coming weeks but for now, a dedication. This my educational blog and pages are now dedicated in memory of T "Biggy" Small 68W. It will carry on his love of medicine and teaching.

7)Unfortunately and a huge blow to our regiment, we lost him in battle recently and it has been incredibly hard for all of us. He died fighting for what he believed in and he really loved medicine.

6)We taught TCCC together and I was always so impressed with the calm and measured way he would help me teach and he always had immense amounts of patients for the toughest students (something I am trying to channel).

5)One friend this year taught me a lot about patience and shared the same love for medical innovation and improvisation in the austere environments we work in.

4) I do these things gladly because at the end of the day, the goal is always preserving the fighting strength but also being there for people when you're needed the most. Its exhausting but it's needed. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

3)Being a medic here goes far beyond TCCC and simply working on casualties. My many hats include instructing, hospital visits, follow ups, telemedicine, making sure our guys are getting proper nutrition, primary care, a listening ear, sending moral boosting treats etc.

2)Did we save a lot of lives this year? Absolutely, but we also lost some really good friends. But hope springs eternal and we continue in their memory.

If I could put a photo describing this year, this would be it. This year has been filled with some great highs but also soul crushing lows. This photo was taken by my friend at the end of a long rotation and shows exhaustion levels at peak rates.

If you can't change it, why worry? If you can change it, why haven't you?

Our stabilization point also does some primary care or follow care for minor injuries and illnesses. Whatever it may be, soldiers need care and we provide it. Our head surgeon snapped this photo while I was taking vitals 😂

My friends, it's Christmas. I've had a few days off from the stabilization point and those days were spent sending both Christmas cheer and vital supplies to units and our military hospital. It's a hard time right now and being able to help others is part of what helps keep me going. Thank you all

Tomorrow is Christmas eve and the only thing that is sitting heavy on my heart is this. Christmas to us means going through the motions. War has a way of dimming even the brightest of light. Celebrations do not come to mind when this is our reality.

I am a familiar face at Nova Poshta in the areas I work in. Frequently if I'm not at the stabilization point, I'm gathering sending medical supplies and morale boosting treats. Thanks to some very sweet friends, I'm able to send lots of treats to various units. It helps keep the smiles going ♥️

Its freezing cold, wet, and muddy but I found a small morale booster at a gas station. Helps keep the smiles going.

I only care about my work and my patients. They're all I have time and energy for because they are the only thing that matters.

There is a war going on. It doesn't stop for anyone's negativity or bullsh*t.

What my off shift looks like (obviously with no power).

Prepping supplies for my fellow medics and giving extra first aid and medicines to my infantry.

I can't make calls when I am on shift at the stabilization point so I prep everyone who needs help as I can and always ask about whats needed.

This is always a great gift ♥️
