Actually, it's the super rich who hold the power. In order to tax the rich, you have to pass legislation, which is done by semi-rich politicians, operating for/with/under the auspices of the super rich...hoping to achieve that status themselves.

There's no point in ever compromising with fascists. Because they'll never stick to their word and will always want more. They'll never be happy until they destroy democracy completely and pocket the winnings. The gatekeepers put in place to protect us from fascism are finding that out the hard way.

China’s CO2 emissions have been flat or falling for past 18 months, analysis finds World’s biggest polluter on track to hit peak emissions target early but miss goal for cutting carbon intensity

Good morning to all those people who wasted the last decade saying, "there's no point tackling climate change in the UK, because China."

You might have thought Question Time was biased.

But you never realised how much.

UKIP never even had a single MP.

Q why are right wing policies seen as acceptable?

Q what would the Greens do for the benefit of the public ?

Where's the "what would a Green Government look like?" Too good for a terrified BBC obviously

Don't knock it too much. Yes, they're getting the free publicity but these articles are now starting to tell some home truths about the reality of ReformUK, based on real experiences of the councils they run, and it's not pretty!

I habitually check BBC News every morning.
The In Depth political section is "What would a Reform government look like?" They're friggin' obsessed.

And yet Farage and his inept intellectual pygmies will still be guaranteed free rides on any political panel show they choose. No attempt to link their serial failures to run councils to their unsuitability to take on running a whole country.

BBC News bulletins leading on the story of an Algerian man being mistakenly released by the prison service.

Funnily enough I don't remember these cases ever leading the bulletins when an average of ten prisoners were mistakenly released a month in the final year of the last Government

If your government thinks the Pope β€œdoesn’t know what he’s talking about” when he defends migrants’ dignity, the world should see the warning sign. The US is no longer leading on human rights. It’s suppressing them.

The govt need to call out Farage and Tory ideas...think many enthralled by them won't be so when they realise how much it will impact on themselves personally...even on a purely selfish level Reform and Tories offer nothing no hope . Labour needs to challenge the narrative...as other parties are

Reform get absolutely annihilated in Caerphilly but the Media make it a story about Labour.

Are they trying to cover up the embarrassment of Farage being absolutely certain his party would win?

Every party Vs Reform. We need crisis talks before the next election . Stand down where needed, unite where it counts. The UK can’t afford a Reform government, an NHS collapse and a slide into a US-style culture war circus.

Media, do your job @paulbrand.bsky.social

Yep. The polls are utter crap. In reality the vast majority of us hate Farage and everything he stands for.

Tactical voting room out the Tories last time and it will keep the Racists out next time, provided people use their heads and accept that β€œbetter” ok when β€œperfect” isn’t available.

What happened to Palastine Action is going to be a blueprint for suppression of speech. If you can use non violent direct action as a pretext for silence people then it's only a small step to outlawing any dissent.

As with the US, previous UK governments have created all tools needed for fascism.

People are just realising that we had a better grip on immigration within the EU They gave us bar staff and builders - we gave them sunburnt pensioners and seaside property booms. It was win-win.

'It’s almost poetic that the loudest voices now decrying Britain’s immigration numbers are the same ones who fought hardest for Brexit’
