A scientist with another language draws broader conclusions. A lawyer with a language builds a stronger case. A journalist with a language gets the real stories. A teacher with a language inspires the next generation. The power of languages takes you to a higher level, whatever field you're in.
24.07.2025 15:19 β π 1 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0An example from A Level Spanish. This is just not suitable for this level. whoteacheslanguages.blogspot.com/2025/06/real...
23.07.2025 06:30 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1A Level still contains questions that are not appropriate at this level. This one seems designed to reward native speakers and "feel" for connotation/collocation over and above any rules or knowledge learned in school. Too hard for many teachers!

Nearly 50% of A* grades for A Level German go to native speakers. The exams are too hard for pupils who have learned the language in school. The exam boards cite this as "discriminating well".

Did you maybe think severe grading was a minor statistical blip around the edges?

Dear Spanish teachers teaching El Laberinto Del Fauno at A Level. I had a few very productive lessons with Y13 last week describing all main characters and finding key words to enhance essay writing. Here are our findings, in case they are useful: #MFLBluesky
09.02.2025 20:35 β π 14 π 6 π¬ 2 π 0Another language is not just a new way of communicating. Itβs an insight into another way of life. Itβs your introduction to another cultureβs music, sport, food, joy and fun. Itβs a connection with other human beings. It takes you beyond your own surroundings. Itβs a more open outlook on the world.

26.01.2025 06:59 β π 2 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0What starts with school French, German or Spanish will take you beyond the classroom & around the world. Not only will it give you new perspectives on every subject, but it can lead you to Chinese or Korean, Arabic or Farsi, Turkish or Ukrainian. You'll be a citizen of the world.
14.01.2025 18:47 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0When you learn French at school, you unlock Catalan & Romanian. Learn German, & the mysteries of English are explained. Take Spanish, & Italian & Portuguese make more sense. If you get the chance to learn Mandarin, Arabic or Sign Language, grab it. Wherever you're headed, languages take you further.
15.01.2025 22:39 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Learning a language isnβt all about words, cases and tenses; itβs about unlocking doors to new worlds. Every effort, no matter how small, brings you closer to connection, understanding and unforgettable experiences. The rewards arenβt just practical; theyβre life-changing. The journey is worth it.
19.01.2025 20:23 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Why do languages matter? Because theyβre the key to human interaction. Because they give you fresh insights into history, politics & society. Because you feel music, film & literature more authentically with another language. Languages make connections. albarolanguages.com/2024/06/27/f...
