Today is the birthday of artist Herb Trimpe (May 26, 1939-April 13, 2015). Best known for his work on the Incredible Hulk, drawing the first appearance of Wolverine, and the launch of Marvel’s G.I. Joe series.

Very sad to learn of the passing of Marcel Ophuls, today, at ninety-seven; his achievement in the art of documentary is historic, both as moral reckoning and political activism: he created nonfiction forms for memory in a time and place of planned forgetting and enforced silence.

Rest in Power Joe Don Baker. An actor of rangy mulishness, he is indelibly sore in the hard boiled tv movie Mongo's Back in Town (1971), adapted from a crime novel by convicted murderer E. Richard Johnson.
