I was in China during Tiananmen Square and a canadian friend recorded 30 hrs of mostly US TV news about the protests and massacre. I found it at least as twisted and wrong as the CCP-approved CCTV coverage, and have avoided TV news ever since! I do read a lot, though.

This isn't some abstract purity gripe about who gets credit. This is the normalisation of forklifts in the intellectual gym - the further transformation of mass formal learning into a performative ritual. Its a giant step down into the darkness of idiocracy. A great leap for the forces of stupid!

Universality is also much more fair to those who work hard and pay taxes. I mean, if someone is helping to pay for a service or subsidy, surely its only right that they should be able to access it too. They should get something for their money.

The reality is that activity on X sways very few voters. For any MP, the number of voters in your constituency who follow you will be tiny. It's all about speaking to journalists. If the MPs move, so will the journos.
